That icon is called "Pilot View", it will lay all opened windows on the same screen so you can switch to the one you want to access immediately (Mac OS has the same function). It's one of the new features in DSM 4

Just found some problems about the new DSM:
- Connection error when checking the DSM status inside Control Panel->DSM Update
- Timeout when clicking "Available" inside Package Center
- Download station doesn't work after upgrade (cannot download, or even doing search)

Solution to the above problems:
- Select "Allow access" for "If no rules are matched" in the firewall settings (I have set some rules there and thus changing the default to "Deny access", which seems to cause all outgoing connections to drop)

Hope it helps for those who're using firewall rules and upgraded to DSM 4.
