Then this is company policy, no surprise, but quite disappointed!
Anyway, I've the following repair experience regarding dust issue for sharing.
1. Panasonic
I've a hong good GM1 (with 12-32 kit) that was suffering from dust issue on the sensor and lens (inside the rear element). Shun Hing helped to clean the sensor (by removing several dust specks, so it should be a dry clean only). Then dismantled the rear element of the kit lens and removed the dust speck. They told me the warranty includes dust removal (sure free of charge) ... pretty good company!
2. Sony
I had a hong good Sony DC (long ago) that was suffering from dust issue on the very internal of its non-removable zoom. As the lens was non-repairable (cannot be dismantled), Sony replaced the zoom lens unit free of charge.
My last Canon DC was G9, after encountering the sensor banding issue (non-usable right after warranty expiry), no 'look back' for their products any more. How can we accept a DC (sure not cheap) that would only last for 1 year and 1 month!
Not to mention I was also a 1 series user (long ago) ... already switched to rivals for years
99% of my photographic equipments are hong good for the sake of original manufacturer warranty. For OP's case, it's pretty pathethic ! |
