HornetTek Enterprise 4x II我用緊，拔USB或閒置唔識得停轉啲HDD，要自已用smartctl去控制。

其他效能方面幾穩定，就係HDD要上落個架先裝到落去嗰度唔好。

Something about external usb 3.0 hdd ...

I've 3 ext usb hdds :
- Transcend storejet 25H3 2TB (WD hdd)
- Transcend storejet 25A3 2TB (Seagate hdd)
- A-DATA HV620 2TB (Toshiba hdd)

When connecting to a qnap nas, the two transcend hdds are able to go to sleep when there was no activity in 5-10 mins.  However, the A-DATA will keep spinning at 24x7!  Is there anything we can do to enable sleep mode?

Then most likely the A-DATA sata to usb 3.0 bridge chip does not support sleeping mode.  

One of the solution could be removing the Toshiba (it will void the warranty) and test it in a, let say UNITEK Y-1039B sata to usb 3.0 converter.

Dunno about raid 1.  But I've a UNITEK 2-Bay (I don't have any 4-bay) with 2TB x 2 (HGST and Toshiba) running raid 0 and the speed was okay.

Regarding sleep mode (spin down), as the blue light never goes off, I would assume it just won't sleep !

- I need a large capacity hdd to store my video files
- I've two extra 2TB hdds but 2TB itself is way too small in capacity
- Creating a virtual 4TB (via raid 0) is more handy for the said purpose

想試失去的感覺?
- Wanted to see how stable the UNITEK raid 0 is ... seems very stable
- In addition, I've standalone backup of all the important files (including video files)
