諗諗吓好彩的話可能只係唔夠電，換條usb線再第部機的usb 3.0/3.1 port可能有得救資料，救到幾多得幾多啦

呢嘀係HDD的死症，記錄DATA的磁區會随時間慢慢消磁弱化，擺耐左就會變成弱化區，OS經過幾次嘗試讀取唔成功後就會將該磁區標籤成bad sector, 并且呢個問題唔係長期通電就可以解決的，長期運作的HDD都會有呢個問題，必須定期徹底重寫DATA，做法係要將嘀DATA抄到另一個HDD，刪除原有的DATA或者格式化後再重新抄返。比SSD的長時間唔通電丟失DATA更加麻煩，因為SSD只須定期通一通電幾秒鐘就保存到。

Seagate and WD portable hdds are not durable (mainly talking about the USB controller)

I've been using the Seagate backup plus 4TB portable (SMR) for more than 2 years.  As time goes by (after numerous write operations), its performance degrades.  However, there is a way to refresh the hdd.

- Read/write speed (USB 3.0) on day 1 was about 14x/13x MB/s
- It's being used for scheduled daily backup (update mode, with add/change/delete operations)
- After a few months, the write speed reduced to 9x MB/s
- Quick format the hdd, read/write speed was back to 14x/13x MB/s

A quick format (in less than 10 secs) is good enough to refresh it!  I did that once every 6 months (about).

While the Seagate USB controller was bad (died prematurely), the ST4000LM024 4TB SMR is good (so far).  It works fine after putting into UNITEK Y-3363

Due to data sensitivity issue, I did not proceed RMA when my Seagate backup plus 4TB's USB controller dies in about 2 years of use (it has 3 years of warranty!).  The only way was to dismantle the unit and relocate the hdd into another 2.5" USB box.

I wonder if I should buy a Seagate/WD 2.5" 4TB and install it internally via SATA as a backup drive to save power

raid scrubbing   may help ?
it read and scan through the raid , if error happen it can calculate and write a correct block on it
