Then maybe your Purple 3TB is a lemon, not unusual but considering Purple is a more robust (if not exactly enterprise grade) HDD lineup the QC should've been much robust as well

IMO with standard grade HDDs in MTV applications, bad sector building is a really big problem
Not that pro-grade HDDs are immune, but such error may be less likely (also depending on how you treat your HDD during recording and playback)

昨天買了MTV9100D，用番舊HDD可保留原有節目嗎?

Yes.  Before you unplug the USB HDD, make sure to standby the Magic TV first.

Windows 7 must be able to format a 3TB HDD.  If it can format other HDD but not this particular 3TB, there must be a hardware fault with the HDD, or the SATA cable is failing (which is less likely).

Hi wklie or any other c hing, can we remove the internal HD and just use USB HD?

i have an old MTV 7000D and sometimes the machine would not startup and says there is HD error.

Yes.  You should also change the power supply if it has not been replaced since you've bought the MTV7000D.

A faulty power supply can also cause internal HDD issues.  If it works ok, then keep using it.

In case you run into further stability issues in the future, you may try to replace the power supply.
