I don't think I am wrong.  Saying it's DX11 API only does not mean that the engine is DX11 native.   They have to have  a DX9 cut-down version of Frostbite Engine 2.0 for the consoles because the console versions of BF3 uses 2.0 too, it's not like that they use Frostbite 1.5 or something for the console versions.  It's just like the PC version of Just Cause 2 only supports DX10, but the game engine is not DX10 native.

但點解一定要係 DX9 native port 去 DX11, 唔可以係 DX11 native port 去 DX9?

The engine has to be console friendly to run on consoles.  Sure, they only use the DX11 API for the PC, but they have to create a DX9 path for the consoles.  In other words, if they wanted to support DX9 for PC they could.

this in fact is my impression given dice's claim: develop on DX11 API, then create DX9 path for consoles...

otherwise, what makes BF3 different from other console ports?
well, it could be a mere gimmick, but I want to trust them at least for now...

I do agree that they could support XP if consoles are supported

Thanks for the benchmarks!  I guess I'm set  since my 480s are faster than any stock 580s  out there.  Looks like 590 is running on single GPU mode due to lack of a SLI profile.
