i7 list wanted

Hi all, please give some advice for the i7 list. The computer is only for scientific calculation only. The budget is around $4000 without monitor and harddisk. Also, powerful graphic card is not required, but it better has hdmi output. Thanks.

If you would need i7 for scientific calculation, I presume your project requires complicated calculation and long run time. Thus, I think you need much memory, good data backup and long-lasting HD.
Updated: only 2GB ram?
Intel Core i7 870 (2.93GHz) CPU/8M [Socket 1156] BOX 盒裝 [VT]        HK$ 2,259.00
ASRock P55 PRO/USB3 P55,DDR3,USB3.0 ATX M/B        HK$ 870.00

Hitachi 1TB Ultrastar HUA722010CLA330 SATA II HDD (7x24)        HK$ 1,010.00
(ADD ON :  a good RAID card $1xxx-2xxx to create RAID 5 with at least 2 more HD or use NAS for data-backup)
EVGA EG210M5 GF 210 HDMI PCI-E 512MB DDR2 [支援Low Profile]        HK$ 320.00

thanks, because the machine is usually for matrix solving, the job is usually required several tenth MB ram is required. Anyway thanks a lot.

o, because the matrix model is related to the simulation timing step and time, so it takes the advantage for faster simulation time. the matrix is time-dynamic, and feedback. The simulation time takes a long time to finish.
For example, before I used E2200, the simulation time takes 1days. Then I changes to E6300, the simulation time reduces to 0.5day. Thus, I hope to reduce the simulation time if used i7.

In that case, you have an alternative of upgrading your system to Q9550/Q9650 or if your mainboard supports QX9650 by buying 2nd CPU (no more new ones available in market). Parallel link this upgraded PC to your new i7 toy to run your project by 2 PCs simultaneously. I guess, it should solve your project within 1 hour.
Your additional cost is just $14xx-18xx.
