connect eeepc linux ver. to mobile phone using bluetooth

Hi all

finally suceed in connect my Motorola V3 i mode through Bluetooth to my Linux eeepc and use GPRS to get online. Just to share with you all

1. buy a bluetooth adaptor ($35-140, depends on size, brand etc)
2. install bluesoleil in your eeepc
3. connect your eeepc to your phone
4. setup network in bluesoleil once your phone paired up. APN for 3 HK is mobile.three.com.hk . you can search on internet for other network setting
5. then "dial up". you are done and you can start using internet !!!

cheers ~

Oh Bluesoleil has released Eee PC version!! great news.
But it is not full functional software, and not open source.
I am looking for a real Linux friendly solution...

Hi,

I suppose you don't have built-in bluetooth? If for eeepc 901, am I correct that step 1 and 2 can be omitted?

Can you share your experience using GRPS to connect? The speed and how many KB used per month?  Thanks.

901 has built in bluetooth , so u dont have to buy
but I m not sure if there is any program for you to do the connection between the computer and the phone. you need to check this s

as for GPRS , the speed is around 110-150KB/s (my experience only, using Peoples). I didn't count how many KD I used, but Peoples service is $128 per month with no limit , so I dont think u need to care about how much u use as this is fixed price.

For your information, Peoples GPRS service can add $18 to use WIFI freely at all the hotspot  (should be y5zone hotspots). I think this is good as u can then either use GPRS / WIFI anytime anywhere
