The mkv ones dun have Dolby TrueHD / DTS HD MA, and many of them are re-encoded into a lower video bitrate. Their video & audio quality can't be compared with BD.
mkv cannot be equal to BD because it's compressed, but the size is small with decent quality, similar to Xvid/DivX that compress DVD video.
Most people will find it's good enough, with average AV equipments, they can't really tell the difference.
