MTV compatibility with SMR HDD?

Have been using self-built 2.5" external HDD for program backups
Current config: WD Black 1TB (WD10JPLX) in Transcend 25S3 enclosure

The Black has shown its reliability over these years (since mid-late 2015) but now space is gradually running out...
Now thinking of migrating to the Blue 2TB (WD20SPZX) with the same enclosure, but the WD20SPZX is a flimsier HDD in 7mm height and also using SMR writing strategy...

My question is, does the HDD writing strategy (of the external HDD) affect the compatibility with MTV?
If I finally migrate to the 20SPZX will it be compatible (recognisable and writable) by the MTV (8000D for example) without issue?
