CentOS 俾人係Internet咀咒死咗

先利申，係apt派
感覺上 CentOS stream 所講嘅rolling release查實都唔係好rolling，係好似同Debian 自動同你由10.6上10.7差唔多，大upgrade會係future release 例如 CentOS stream 9發生。

係CentOS user 實務上一定要stick on exact version（連少少minor bump都唔得）,所以咁大反應？定係我理解錯 CentOS stream 其實係另外一個Fedora？

有冇Yum 派嘅師兄，或者兩邊都有用嘅師兄講講？

我最驚係好似Win10咁
1809, 1903, 1909, 2004, 20H1

冇左CentOS 8, 9, 10, 11呢種
就咁CentOS 20H2, 21H1.... (每次新kernel version)
或者學Ubuntu, 19.04, 19.10, 20.04, 20.10, 21.04.....

Centos 本來就係 clone Redhat,  Centos Stream 印象中係由 Redhat  加入比錢開始整, 應該係想諗辦法整死 CentOS, 現在成真了,  Centos 真係變成 Centos Stream (Fedora 2.0),  Centos Team 可能有人拉隊走起番 Centos Original

CentOS 8, the current version, will continue to receive updates until the end of 2021. It was supposed to end-of-life in 2029. There will be no CentOS Linux 9, only CentOS Stream 9.

There is scope, therefore, for a new community build of RHEL to appear - and a post by Gregory Kurtzer, the founder of CentOS, states that "I am considering creating another rebuild of RHEL and may even be able to hire some people for this effort." - head here and join the Slack group for more details. "I've already had some people ask me to create another CentOS that tracks RHEL perfectly again. haha," he says.

其實 Centos 如果真係死左, 對 Redhat 無咩著數....
好多人都係因為公司用 Redhat 所以私下用 Centos, 之後就因為私下用 Centos, 所以公司用 Redhat....

如果 Centos8 真係2021年尾就玩完, 應該大地震

好多人都係因為公司用 Redhat 所以私下用 Centos, 之後 ...

    有說因為CentOS就係RHEL嘅免費版，有啲公司離開RHEL走去用CentOS，之後Red Hat Inc.唔滿意所以終止CentOS （由2029 cut short到2021呢點真係好PK）。
我有少少同意你所講，冇咗CentOS反而會少咗公司用RHEL(都冇其他地方低成本試玩，如果一開始已經要俾錢，我唔好用AIX?)

至於Rocky Linux，我暫時唔睇好佢出到世。就算係出到世，我對佢可唔可以1:1 clone到RHEL(當然商標例外)有疑問 -- 即係我暫時睇唔到Rocky Linux可以完全頂替CentOS功能。

無關的, 死唔買 main 的公司根本無前途無錢途, 就算無左Centos 都會用其他... 一樣唔會比錢 RH...

另外 Oracle Linux 食左 RH  唔少份額!

至於 Rocky Linux 初期未必咁好, 始終隊人比人整散左, 不過都係果班人, 用開同整開 Centos 果班人多數會跟隊走...

CENTOS 流失的客大部份唔會流去 REHL / Centos Stream, 多數會去 Rocky / Ubuntu / debian-based Linux, 最後 RH 同 CENTOS 係雙輸

如果令到 Unbuntu Server Market 佔有率再升,  RH 就賠了夫人又折兵
