I am pretty surprised for their generous move though, as they are giving out full current version with support!  not cripple-ware with ads, or out-dated version, or limited trial period!  They must be pretty confident with the functionality of the upcoming versions

it depends on what software you are talking about.  Software like MS Office 2003 works very nicely with current version of crossover office or wine though.  There are of course still many that doesn't even work.... you may want to check the compatibility centre on their webpage for information on what is working and what's not...
