Lambda Linux for ThinkPad is out!

Lambda Linux is remastered from Ubuntu Linux.  Some softwares and plugins have been added.  Basically, Lambda Linux is identical to Ubuntu Linux.

If you have a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop, such as X61 that I currently have, you may consider to try the Lambda 8.10 for ThinkPad.  It is a 64-bit system.  The fingerprint reader, Hard Drive Active Protection System (HDAPS), and middle scroll button are activated.  It also comes with a funny game Neverball to play with the HDAPS.

The most interesting is the captioned features can be ran on a Live DVD.

I test it on my Lenovo ThinkPad X61 only.  Any successful story is welcome.

You can download the Lambda 8.10 for ThinkPad at :

Workable machines are :
X series :
X61, X300 (should disable the Touch Pad in BIOS)
T series :
T61
Not yet tested : X60, T60, X200, T400
*****

Usage 1 :
To active the fingerprint reader, you should execute the following command on every user.

To scan your fingerprint :
  1. sudo tf-tool --acquire
複製代碼
To verify and store your fingerprint :
  1. sudo tf-tool --verify
複製代碼
To add all users' fingerprints to the screensaver login (optional) :
  1. sudo gpasswd -a $USERNAME fingerprint && sudo chown $USERNAME:root /home/$USERNAME/.thinkfinger.bir
複製代碼
Usage 2 :
If you are playing Neverball, make sure you have disabled the Special Effect (Compiz Fusion).  You can also test the HDAPS by the following command but the Special Effect should also be disabled :
  1. hdaps-gl&
複製代碼
Usage 3 :
When the wireless is enabled and reachable, you may asked for the password to unlock the keyring every time when you login.  To solve this problem, you should :
  1. Alt+F2
複製代碼
  1. seahorse
複製代碼
Select "Edit" and "Preference".  Change the new password of "Login" to blank.  Then, the keyring will be automatically unlock when you login.

Known issue :
You should only swipe your fingerprint when you re-login after the screensaver is activated.  Typing password is not accepted.

Question ?
Any Thinkpad version on x86 ?

Do you mean i386 version (32-bit)?

Lambda Linux for ThinkPad is designed for the new model of ThinkPad that comes with Active Drive Protection (in Lenovo term) and fingerprint scanner.  Their CPUs are already in 64-bit.  Therefore, this version is mainly for 64-bit CPUs.

By the way, what is the model of your ThinkPad?

Hi I have T23 x 2 ; T60 x 1.
T60 and X60 are more or less the same except some mirror stuff like sd card reader
x61 should be the enhanced version of x60. Therefore my T60 should work with yours
so I ...

As far as I know, T23 not comes with Active Drive Protection and fingerprint reader as well as 64-bit CPU.  However, if T60 comes with 64-bit CPU, you can try it on a Live DVD as the said features can be ran on a Live DVD.

I don't understand what is "飛晒畫面".

If you want to play Neverball and hdaps-gl&, you should DISABLE the SPECIAL EFFECT.

Updated :
To run the game Neverball, you should DISABLE the SPECIAL EFFECT by right click on the wallpaper. Select “Change Wallpaper or Background”, click on “Nil or No” on the tab of “Visual Effect”. If you want to test your APS, you can simply run the following command but you should also DISABLE the SPECIAL EFFECT, otherwises, the image on the screen will be damaged.
