Linux harddisk replacement

Would like to change the HD from 320G to 1T for my linux NAS. What's the easiest way to do it? Can I use "ghost" as for my M$ system? Thanks!

Take the chance to upgrade your Linux distribution. I suggest installation from scratch.

I agree this is the best chance to update my linux system but as I've installed gallery2 which has tons of photos inside, it's really troublesome to install from scratch and migrate the SQL...... mind to suggest other means for ease of upgrade HD? thanks!

Use Clonezilla to save a backup image of the old hard disk first.  Then restore the image to the new hard disk.

Use GParted  to resize partition after cloning.

It's an ATOM itx running debian. BTW, should I connect my new HD to it first then transfer the image to it?

  It's even better.

1. Plug both HDD into the server
2. Use fdisk to create the exact partitions on the new HDD and don't forget to toggle the boot flag (ignore the unallocated space first, we will expand later)
3. Use dd if=xxxx of=xxxx to 'clone' from the old HDD to new HDD
4. Use another software (parted for console, gparted for gnome and qtparted for KDE) to expand/move the partitions of the new HDD to use all the space
5. Prepare an installation CD of your distro and shutdown the server
6. Unplug the old HDD, and boot with the installation CD
7. Install the bootloader to the MBR
8. Enjoy~

Edit:
Seems like dd can handle MBR. In this case, you don't need step 5-7

G4L的作者盗用了G4U（Ghost for Unix）的代码，

，我04年时试用过，喜欢它的ftp上传功能。G4U比G4L强多了。

Still 1.17 Today I had to discover that someone used g4u as a source for g4l, but instead of giving proper credit and respecting the licensing and copyright on g4u, all traces were removed that the core work was done by me. Instead, the author put his name in and his work under a different license. I’m not happy about this, and ask people to discourage such actions as well as to despise the the author of g4l (cowardly calling himself only “nme”). Read more about this in my blog.
