This problem happened just days ago...
Normally, when you visit Google search main page (eg. Ggl HK), you have the language choices (Ch/En) and when you choose Chinese for example, subsequent search pages will also be shown in your preferred language (ie. Chinese in this case)...
And even if after you login w/Google, if you change your search page language preference, all subsequent search page results will in in your chosen language...
However, now if you log into Ggl and browse the search page (eg. Google HK), the page will automatically default into English, but even after you change language preference (eg. Chinese), the mail Ggl search page and all subsequent search results will still be reverted back to English page
Also, after Ggl login, even if you change your language preference under your Ggl profile, the Ggl search page will still revert back to English...
Seems that the home language parameter "hl=**" is being ignored for some reason...
For now the temporary fix will be to manually add back the parameter "hl=zh-HK" (or "hl=zh-TW") on the actual URL
eg. for Ggl HK page,
"www.google.com.hk/webhp?hl=zh-HK"
Once you add back the "hl" parameter, all subsequent search results will revert to your language of choice (ie. Chinese in this case)
Also, if you change switch language under the main search page then decide to revert back, then the same problem discussed above will remain, w hich means you'll have to manually add back to "hl" parameter on the URL
This is a real annoyance which needs serious user attention...
Somebody needs to inform Google on this bug so that fixes can be issued |
