The more I use it, the more I don't like it
may be a 50mm 1.4 is calling me...
or a 85mm 1.8
(40D crop...so...)
(and have no money to tread the water of Ls)
what's the word on the sigma 50 1.4? any user?

50mm is too tele for daily use on a crop...you may wanna consider 30mm f1.4 sigma

fresh photo.... many ppl say 85mm (short tele) is a good portrait...or the 50mm range.. So a crop body 35mm and 50mm EF lens will be about right.

no... never dark room nor develop my own film...
I picked up my first DSLR.... 40D around this July...
(But when I was young, I once use my dad minolta / konica ...can't remember the name 35mm film...)
And I was using P&S film(...Ricoh or minolta... forgot) when I has in F4 (at least when I traveled to Canada, in F4 and Europe summer of F5s ... )
but those are really snapshot kinda of thing.

I dump my 50mm 1.8.
- Focus is not consistant
- Color is dull and low contract.
Sigma 30mm 1.4 on the other hand,
- has better focal length than 50mm in corp
- Sharp even wide open (1.4), go and have a look in the Sigma 30mm 1.4 thread below
- a third of the 35L

Right on... the reason why I dislike my 50 1.8
The keeper rate is very disappointing...
Too many time, its not focus right.... and I miss the shot.... XYZ...
